With remote working apps can you ever switch off?

Remote working

A customer emailed in with a suggestion for our leased line quoting tool last week. I looked into it and thought it would really benefit the base so sent it to our MD. He was on holiday with his family in France, yet quickly approved it on his mobile phone. I then got onto our web developer who was on holiday with his girlfriend in Norway who picked up the email on his tablet and responded with his action plan and timescales. With work email on so many of our devices we take away with us can we ever really switch off?

Good connectivity

In areas with a good internet connection you can work remotely as if you were sat at your desk, taking and transferring calls, receiving and answering emails, accessing and creating new corporate documents, raising purchase orders and checking invoices, even logging into management portals to analyse and fix faults and mass mailing customer updates.

In areas of bad connectivity, mobile tethering comes into its own, if there is 4G and you have a good inclusive data package you can use your phone to connect to the internet and carry on working. Some mobile networks allow you to use your phone abroad (in some countries) at no extra cost and offer £5 all you can eat daily data packages.
