Why choose a SIM only deal for my business?

What is a SIM only deal?
A SIM only deal provides a package of minutes, texts and mobile data for a monthly cost, much the same as a traditional mobile phone contract. The difference is that you don’t get a new handset; you only get the SIM card.

Why should you opt for a SIM only contract?

1. They tend to be cheaper

With traditional contracts you pay a premium each month within your contract to pay off the cost of the phone. With a SIM only deal (i.e. without getting a new phone) you’ll save money each month. On top of the savings, going SIM only means than that you can focus on getting the best deal to suit your usage needs - rather than just dealing with the tariffs available to ensure you get the handset you want.

2. They are flexible

Rather than signing up for a 24 month contract, as with most mobile phone deals, with a SIM only contract you can make a commitment for as little as one month. This is a great advantage for those who might not know how many minutes, texts or megabytes of data they typically use each month.

The benefit for businesses is that you can choose a different SIM package for each staff member and you can add or cancel SIM contracts on a monthly basis. For your own personal contract you could go SIM only until the next smartphone comes out, reducing your monthly payments.

What type of SIM card should you get?
If you’re keen on a SIM only deal, then you’ll need to decide which type of SIM card you need.
Be aware that there are three different sizes of SIM cards: a standard SIM, the micro SIM and the nano SIM. All smartphones fit a different type of SIM card, so it’s important to select the right one for your handset when comparing deals.

As a rough guide, the iPhone 5, 5s and 5c all require a nano SIM, as does the HTC One M8. Most Android smartphones however use a micro SIM, which is slightly larger. Other handsets which fit a micro SIM include the Samsung Galaxy S5, S4 and S3, the iPhone 4s, and most HTC, Sony and Nokia Lumia smartphones. Standard SIM cards are used less commonly these days and are typically only found in feature phones which don’t offer internet-enabled features.

Who has the best SIM only deal for business?

Jola are offering Vodafone SIMs for SMEs from £9.50 a month, which includes 500 standard UK minutes, 500 texts, 500MB data, 4G at no extra cost on a 30 day rolling contract.
