As a small business owner I am always working. I have never really kept traditional business hours but with the availability of good applications for remote working I never seem to switch off - and actually I like it that way.

I was in Toronto recently listening to a book on my iPhone when the phone rang. I was still logged into the sales queue on my hosted telephony application and picked up the call. One of my customers had called with an urgent quote request for a leased line. I put the call on speaker and accessed our leased line quoting tool on my phone. I entered his details and forwarded his quote to him. It contained pricing from all the major carriers for leased circuits available to his customer and I was talking him through the options and recommended pricing, whilst he opened the email his end. I reminded him that he had access to the quoting tool app so he could do this himself but he had forgotten his log in details and how to use the tool. I logged into my wordpress account reset his password and emailed the details to him with a link to our quoting tool user video.

At the end of the call the partner mentioned that he needed to speak to accounts about self-billing, so I forwarded his call to the accounts queue where it was picked up and his queries answered. I didn't tell him that I was on holiday on the other side of the world and that I should really have logged out of the sales queue.
